“We can only better take care of the planet when we are also doing well. As we advocate and fight for climate justice, it’s really important that […] people really prioritize their mental health and their own self care, to find out, what is self care to them?” (Vanessa Nakate)
“No one is too small to make a difference” (Greta Thunberg)
Climate change and mental health – dealing with eco-emotions
The climate change and the responses to it can have a great impact on our mental health.

Reference: World Health Organisation
Eco-emotions
are emotions triggered by the
- lived impact of the climate change
- knowledge about people and other living organisms already affected
- predictions for the future
- (in)action of those with (more) power and responsibility to create change
They can
- motivate to constructive action and give direction in life,
or
- keep someone stuck in pain in a loop of unhelpful thoughts.
Are you a climate-conscious person feeling stuck and looking for a way forward? I can help you explore:
- your emotions
- your values
- the connection between emotions and values
- helpful and unhelpful coping with these emotions
- self-care and self-compassion
- strengths in yourself and in your environment
- emotional balance
- value-driven action
- barriers to action and (self-)compassionate ways to overcome them
